When designing an EMC Testing laboratory, the shielding system defines the entire measurement foundation. Everything else in the test chain depends on how stable and predictable the enclosure is.

A well-designed shielding environment is not just about attenuation values on paper. Real-world performance is determined by how consistently the structure behaves over time under mechanical stress, thermal variation, and repeated usage.

In practice, leakage often occurs at joints, door interfaces, and cable entry points rather than in the main panel structure. This is why shielding integrity should always be evaluated as a system rather than a single material specification.

Grounding design also plays a critical role. A stable and low-impedance grounding path ensures that unwanted currents do not distort measurement results or introduce unpredictable coupling effects.

In most EMC lab projects, shielding performance is the first and most important decision point because it defines the upper limit of test reliability.
